At Glen Torrie Pastures we believe that real food is grown from the ground up, and taking care of our patch of soil is how we produce the best beef on the NW of Tasmania.
We are a family based farm located in the North West of Tasmania, just outside of Wynyard, where we breed and raise our black Angus cattle. For the last 16 years working on soil health, animal quality and building resilient farms through soil and natural resource management, we have grown and built a product we are immensely proud to be able to share with you.
Our light bulb moment was when we realised we talked a lot about how we raised and cared for our animals, how they had tender tasty meat, but we never got to eat any! So our local beef boxes were born. When Covid 19 had us all in lockdown and panic buying stripped shelves of essentials we realised our role in the local food supply was an important one. With less food miles and the ability to maintain a consistent supply we knew we could help keep our local food system going and local families fed. Our connection to the Tasmanina Produce Collective has allowed us to support other producers and get our produce to a wider range of customers in Tasmania.
At the heart of our business is a slow growing sustainable farming practice, we are building our farms for the next generation.
“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”
